Frederick Danso a Senior Research Scientist, former officer-in-charge of the oil palm nursery and former head of the Cropping and Farming Systems (Agronomy) Division of the CSIR-Oil Palm Research Institute holds a BSc in Agricultural Science and a Masters in Soil Science from the University of Cape Coast and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Mr. Danso joined the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research-Oil Palm Research Institute (CSIR-OPRI) as a Principal Technical Officer in 2009 and has risen to the rank of Senior Research Scientist with vast experience in soil and oil palm nutrition. Some of his works depicts the use of bio-stimulants, organic and inorganic formulated media for raising oil palm seedlings. He has been involved in the development of oil palm nutrition and field management strategies for small scale oil palm farmers.
Mr. Danso has served as the Institutional representative for CSIR-OPRI – SOLIDARIDAD, Best Management Practices (BMP) in oil palm production and YARA MILA PALMAE project and a Resource person (Agronomist) for the Millennium Villages Project (MVP) and Annual District Farmers’ day celebration in Ghana. He has also served as an Agronomist on the collaborative trial between CSIR-GHANA SUMATRA and OLAM PALM GABON in Gabon and a Technical advisor for MWADINGUSHA ECOLOGIC AGRICULTURE-SARL for the establishment of oil palm plantation in Likasi of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Mr Danso has authored a number of technical reports for both small scale oil palm holder farmers and plantations and has to his credit 12 journal publications in the area of oil palm research. He is currently a PhD candidate at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science in the area of Crop Cultivation and Farming System with speciality in Agro-ecology.
